Programme Background
This programme is designed specifically for individuals who want to pursue the discipline of Usuluddin at an advanced level. It covers compulsory courses in the major areas of Usuluddin such as aqidah (Islamic creed), hadith, tafsir (exegesis), da’wah, comparative religion, tasawwuf, and philosophy. The programme aims to produce graduates with an expertise in the sub-areas of Usuluddin and are capable to analyse classical and modern thinking as well as generate new ideas applicable to the contemporary context.
Entry Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree (MQF – Level 6) in Islamic Studies with at least CGPA 2.75 or equivalent as accepted by the HEP Senate; or
- A bachelor’s degree (MQF – Level 6) in Islamic Studies with at least CGPA 2.50 or equivalent and did not achieve CGPA of 2.75 can be considered for admission subject to rigorous internal evaluation; or
- A bachelor’s degree (MQF – Level 6) in Islamic Studies or equivalent but did not achieve CGPA 2.50 can be considered for admission subject to five (5) years of working experiences in relevant field.
International Student
A relevant bachelor’s degree with good grade from accredited institutions of higher learning, or other certificates that are recognized as equivalent to a bachelor’s degree that are recognized by the Senate of the University.
Career Prospects
- Recruitment into the public sector as Islamic officer at the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia or Jabatan Mufti.
- Recruitment into the private sector as advisor or consultant.
- Recruitment into the academic field as lecturer or researcher.
